VulnerabilityCVE-2026-11326cvecve-2026-11326cwe-284
Published: 06/05/2026 (06/05/2026, 00:12:32 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: OpenAI
Product: OpenAI Atlas

Description

OpenAI Atlas versions before 1.2025.288.15 exposed privileged browser APIs to web content on *.openai.com domains. A cross-site scripting vulnerability on forum.openai.com could exploit this exposure to access browser history and control tabs. Version 1.2025.288.15 restricts these APIs to *.chatgpt.com, mitigating the issue. Users should upgrade to this version or later to address the vulnerability.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-11326 is an improper access control vulnerability (CWE-284) in OpenAI Atlas prior to version 1.2025.288.15. The product exposed privileged browser APIs to web content on *.openai.com origins, which could be exploited via a cross-site scripting vulnerability on forum.openai.com. This exploitation allows an attacker to access browser history and open or close tabs. The vulnerability is mitigated in version 1.2025.288.15 by narrowing API access to *.chatgpt.com domains.

Potential Impact

An attacker exploiting this vulnerability could gain unauthorized access to sensitive browser functions, including browsing history and tab management, potentially compromising user privacy and session integrity. The CVSS score of 6 indicates a medium severity impact with network attack vector, high complexity, no privileges required, and user interaction needed.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade OpenAI Atlas to version 1.2025.288.15 or later, where the access to privileged browser APIs is restricted to *.chatgpt.com domains. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the vendor advisory, but the version 1.2025.288.15 is indicated as the fixed version. No additional mitigation steps are specified.
