CVE-2026-113354: Incorrect Authorization in Finsys dockhand
Description
Dockhand versions before 1.0.46 contain an arbitrary file read vulnerability that allows non-admin users with stacks:edit permission to read arbitrary files via the /api/system/files/content endpoint by supplying absolute paths. Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-113354 is an arbitrary file read vulnerability in Finsys Dockhand prior to version 1.0.46. The flaw arises from incorrect authorization checks on the /api/system/files/content API endpoint, which accepts a path parameter. Users with stacks:edit permission but without admin privileges can exploit this to read arbitrary files on the Dockhand container by providing absolute file paths. Sensitive files like /etc/shadow, /etc/passwd, .git/config, and SSH keys can be accessed, potentially leading to information disclosure.
Potential Impact
An attacker with stacks:edit permission can read arbitrary files on the Dockhand container, including sensitive system files and credentials. This can lead to exposure of password hashes, configuration secrets, and private keys, increasing the risk of further compromise. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 score of 7.1 (high severity), reflecting the potential impact of unauthorized information disclosure without requiring admin privileges or user interaction.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available in Dockhand version 1.0.46. Users should upgrade to version 1.0.46 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Until patched, restrict the stacks:edit permission to trusted users only to reduce risk.
