Published: 10/20/2026 (10/20/2026, 14:45:12 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Product: MinIO

Description

A security vulnerability has been detected in MinIO up to RELEASE.2025-10-15T17-29-55Z. This issue affects the function globalDeploymentID/SessionTokenAuthenticate of the file cmd/common-main.go of the component Embedded Console. Such manipulation leads to use of hard-coded cryptographic key . It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. This vulnerability only affects products that are no longer supported by the maintainer.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in MinIO up to RELEASE.2025-10-15T17-29-55Z involves the use of a hard-coded cryptographic key within the Embedded Console's globalDeploymentID/SessionTokenAuthenticate function (cmd/common-main.go). The presence of a hard-coded key can allow an attacker to bypass authentication or compromise cryptographic operations remotely. The vulnerability has been publicly disclosed, but it only affects versions no longer supported by the vendor.

Potential Impact

The use of a hard-coded cryptographic key can allow remote attackers to compromise the authentication mechanism or cryptographic integrity of the Embedded Console in affected MinIO versions. This could lead to unauthorized access or manipulation of the system. However, since the affected versions are no longer supported, the risk is limited to legacy deployments.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation is indicated since the affected versions are no longer supported by the maintainer. Users should upgrade to a supported version of MinIO where this vulnerability does not exist. If upgrading is not possible, consider disabling or restricting access to the Embedded Console component to mitigate exposure.
