Vendor/Project: networknt
Product: light-4j

Description

Networknt light-4j versions from 2.1.5 up to but not including 2.4.0 contain an authentication bypass vulnerability in the BasicAuthHandler. Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-113682 describes an authentication bypass in networknt light-4j's BasicAuthHandler affecting versions >=2.1.5 and <2.4.0. Attackers can exploit this by sending a Basic Authorization header with a valid username but an empty password, which triggers an LDAP bind that is incorrectly accepted as successful authentication. This allows unauthorized access as LDAP/AD-delegated users without valid credentials.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows unauthenticated attackers to bypass authentication controls and gain access as LDAP/AD-delegated users. This can lead to unauthorized access to protected resources and potentially escalate privileges within affected systems. The CVSS 4.0 score of 9.1 indicates a critical severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality and integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the affected service and consider disabling BasicAuthHandler or LDAP/AD delegation if feasible. Monitor for updates from networknt regarding patches or official mitigations.
