CVE-2026-114068: Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key in triggerdotdev trigger.dev
Description
Trigger.dev versions before 4.6.0 have an authorization bypass vulnerability in the waitpoint token wait endpoint. Authenticated attackers with any secret API key can block runs from other organizations indefinitely by supplying a victim's run ID with their own waitpoint. They can also inject resume data into the victim's run, potentially disrupting workflow execution.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-114068 describes a missing authorization check in trigger.dev prior to version 4.6.0. The vulnerability exists in the waitpoint token wait endpoint, where an attacker possessing any secret API key can specify a victim's run ID in their own waitpoint. This causes the victim's run to block indefinitely on a waitpoint that the victim cannot complete. Additionally, the attacker can inject resume data into the victim's run, potentially manipulating the run's state or behavior.
Potential Impact
An attacker with any secret API key can cause denial of service to runs belonging to other organizations by blocking them indefinitely. The attacker can also inject resume data, which may lead to unauthorized manipulation of workflow execution. This compromises the integrity and availability of affected runs across organizations.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available in trigger.dev version 4.6.0. Users should upgrade to version 4.6.0 or later to remediate this authorization bypass vulnerability. No other mitigation steps are indicated.
