Published: 10/21/2026 (10/21/2026, 00:36:42 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: triggerdotdev
Product: trigger.dev

Description

Trigger.dev versions before 4.5.12 have an authorization bypass vulnerability allowing authenticated project members to complete another member's DEVELOPMENT environment waitpoint. This bypass occurs by skipping the per-user environment ownership check if the attacker knows the victim's waitpoint friendly ID. The attacker can submit specific waitpoint types with a timeout flag to prematurely mark the waitpoint as completed.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-114071 describes an authorization bypass vulnerability in trigger.dev prior to version 4.5.12. Authenticated project members can exploit this flaw to complete waitpoints belonging to other users in the DEVELOPMENT environment by circumventing the per-user ownership verification. The exploit requires knowledge of the victim's waitpoint friendly ID and involves submitting waitpoint completion requests of type DATETIME or MANUAL with the isTimeout parameter set, resulting in premature completion of the victim's pending waitpoint.

Potential Impact

An attacker with authenticated access to a project can interfere with other members' workflow by prematurely completing their DEVELOPMENT environment waitpoints. This could disrupt development processes or cause unintended state changes. The CVSS score is low (2.3), indicating limited impact and requiring high attack complexity and privileges.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in trigger.dev version 4.5.12. Users should upgrade to version 4.5.12 or later to remediate this authorization bypass vulnerability. No other mitigations are specified.
