CVE-2026-114083: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') in triggerdotdev trigger.dev
Description
Trigger.dev versions before 4.5.0-rc.3 have a path traversal vulnerability in the api/v1/packets and api/v2/packets endpoints. Authenticated tenants can exploit this by using unsanitized filename segments containing ../ sequences to escape their object key prefix. This allows them to obtain presigned GET or PUT URLs and read or overwrite other tenants' run payloads and outputs.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-114083 describes a path traversal vulnerability in trigger.dev prior to version 4.5.0-rc.3. The flaw exists in the api/v1/packets and api/v2/packets endpoints, where an authenticated tenant can supply unsanitized filename splat segments containing ../ sequences. This enables the attacker to bypass directory restrictions on object key prefixes, thereby accessing or modifying other tenants' run payloads and outputs via presigned URLs.
Potential Impact
An attacker with a valid API key can read or overwrite data belonging to other tenants by exploiting the path traversal vulnerability. This compromises tenant data isolation and confidentiality, potentially leading to unauthorized data access and modification.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available in trigger.dev version 4.5.0-rc.3 and later. Users should upgrade to version 4.5.0-rc.3 or above to remediate this vulnerability.
