CVE-2026-114086: Missing Authentication for Critical Function in triggerdotdev trigger.dev
Description
Trigger.dev versions before 4.5.5 have a missing authentication vulnerability in the realtime streams POST handler. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to send POST requests to specific endpoints with predictable run identifiers, enabling injection of arbitrary data into any environment's realtime stream, including production environments.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-114086 describes a missing authentication vulnerability in trigger.dev prior to version 4.5.5. The vulnerability exists in the realtime streams POST handler at the endpoint /realtime/v1/streams/:runId/:streamId. Because the run friendlyId is predictable and no authentication is required, attackers can inject arbitrary data into realtime streams of any environment, including production. This could potentially disrupt or manipulate realtime data processing within trigger.dev workflows.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary data into realtime streams across any environment, including production. This could lead to data integrity issues or manipulation of workflow executions relying on these streams. However, there is no indication of privilege escalation, data disclosure, or service disruption beyond data injection. The CVSS score of 6.9 (medium severity) reflects the network attack vector with no privileges required and no user interaction needed.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available in trigger.dev version 4.5.5 and later. Users should upgrade to version 4.5.5 or newer to remediate this vulnerability. No vendor advisory was provided, so patch status is inferred from the version range indicating affected versions are prior to 4.5.5.
