Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-114120 is a missing authorization vulnerability in WPDeveloper's SchedulePress plugin prior to version 5.3.5. Authenticated users with Contributor-level permissions can exploit the wpsp_el_editor_form AJAX action to change the status and publish date of any post, including those owned by administrators or other users. The exploit involves reusing the wpsp-el-editor nonce from the Elementor modal to perform unauthorized post status changes such as unpublishing or rescheduling posts.

Potential Impact

An attacker with Contributor-level access can alter the publication status and scheduling of posts they do not own, including administrator posts. This can lead to unauthorized content publication, unpublication, or rescheduling, potentially disrupting site content management and integrity. The vulnerability does not require higher privilege levels or user interaction beyond authentication.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in SchedulePress version 5.3.5. Users should upgrade to version 5.3.5 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
