CVE-2026-114644: CWE-770: Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling in MongoDB C# Driver
Description
The MongoDB C# Driver's BSON library contains an uncontrolled resource consumption weakness in its deserialization handling of one BSON value type. An application that deserializes untrusted content with the library retains data derived from that content for the lifetime of the process, with no limit on how much accumulates. An unauthenticated remote party who can cause such content to be deserialized can drive unbounded memory growth, exhausting the host application's available memory and denying service. There is no impact to confidentiality or integrity, and no MongoDB server component is affected.

Technical Analysis
The MongoDB C# Driver's BSON library has a resource consumption weakness (CWE-770) in its deserialization process for one BSON value type. When deserializing untrusted content, the application retains data derived from that content for the lifetime of the process without any limits on accumulation. An unauthenticated remote attacker able to trigger deserialization of crafted content can cause unbounded memory growth, exhausting available memory and causing denial of service. No confidentiality or integrity impacts are present, and the MongoDB server is not affected.
Potential Impact
An unauthenticated remote attacker can cause unbounded memory consumption in applications using the vulnerable MongoDB C# Driver versions, leading to denial of service by exhausting host memory. There is no impact on data confidentiality or integrity, and no MongoDB server components are affected.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a patch is available, avoid deserializing untrusted BSON content with the affected MongoDB C# Driver versions.
