CVE-2026-114732: CWE-288 Authentication Bypass Using an Alternate Path or Channel in Roundcube Webmail
Description
CVE-2026-114732 is an authentication bypass vulnerability in Roundcube Webmail affecting versions 1.6.0 through before 1.6.20 and 1.7.0 through before 1.7.5. The flaw occurs in multi-host installations where logging in with an alias address could authenticate a user to a different IMAP host's account due to improper qualification of the alias lookup by IMAP host. This issue was fixed upstream by qualifying alias logins by IMAP host.

Technical Analysis
Roundcube Webmail versions >=1.6.0 <1.6.20 and >=1.7.0 <1.7.5 contain an improper authentication vulnerability (CWE-288) in multi-host setups. The function rcube_user::query() matched alias login addresses against identity records without restricting the lookup to the correct IMAP host, allowing an attacker to bypass authentication and access accounts on a different IMAP host. The upstream fix addressed this by ensuring alias logins are qualified by IMAP host.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation allows an attacker to bypass authentication controls and gain unauthorized access to user accounts on different IMAP hosts within a multi-host Roundcube Webmail deployment. This results in confidentiality and integrity impacts on affected user accounts. Availability is not impacted.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available upstream that corrects the alias login qualification by IMAP host. Users should upgrade to Roundcube Webmail version 1.6.20 or later, or 1.7.5 or later, where this vulnerability is resolved. No other mitigation guidance is provided or necessary.
