Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-115657 is a vulnerability in KNIME Analytics Platform where configured proxy credentials are inserted into log files during startup when the platform is used as an executor in KNIME Server or KNIME Business Hub. This is classified under CWE-532 (Insertion of sensitive information into log file). An attacker with access to these logs can steal the proxy credentials and impersonate the user who configured the proxy settings. The issue is resolved in LTS versions 5.8.4 and 5.12.0 and later.

Potential Impact

The exposure of proxy credentials in log files allows an attacker with access to those logs to steal credentials and potentially use the proxy with the privileges of the user who configured it. This could lead to unauthorized proxy usage but does not directly escalate privileges or compromise the system beyond the proxy access.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade KNIME Analytics Platform to LTS version 5.8.4 or later, including 5.12.0 and beyond, where this issue has been fixed. No other mitigation is required as the vulnerability is addressed by the official fix.
