Technical Analysis

The Kali Forms — Contact Form & Drag-and-Drop Builder WordPress plugin prior to version 2.4.17 fails to enforce per-object capability checks during its post-duplication AJAX action. This authorization bypass (CWE-639) enables users with Contributor-level permissions or above to duplicate arbitrary posts into published posts they control and access private metadata associated with those posts, potentially exposing sensitive information stored by the plugin. The vulnerability affects the plugin's handling of post duplication and metadata access controls.

Potential Impact

Users with Contributor-level access or higher can exploit this vulnerability to duplicate any post regardless of ownership or status and gain access to private post metadata, including secrets stored by the plugin. This could lead to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive data within the WordPress environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict Contributor-level access or higher to trusted users only to reduce risk.
