Until a fix is available, network administrators should consider mitigating exposure by restricting access to trusted devices on the local network and monitoring for suspicious DHCPv6 traffic.

Description

CVE-2026-115863 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in ConnMan versions up to 2.0. It occurs in the DHCPv6 client code when processing a crafted DHCPv6 Reply message containing a DOMAIN_LIST option with a large payload. An unauthenticated on-link attacker can exploit this by sending a forged Router Advertisement and DHCPv6 Reply, causing connmand (running as root) to crash.
