AI-suggested

Until a fix is available, users should exercise caution when interacting with untrusted links or redirects related to the Infinity for Reddit app. Vendors and users should monitor for updates addressing this OAuth state validation issue.

Description

Infinity for Reddit versions up to and including 8.3.4 contain a login cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability. This flaw allows attackers to log victims into attacker-controlled Reddit accounts by exploiting a hardcoded OAuth state value in the LoginChromeCustomTabActivity redirect handler. An attacker can authorize the app with their own Reddit account and then trick victims into using that account, causing their posts, messages, and browsing activity to be performed under the attacker's identity.

Impact

Successful exploitation results in victims unknowingly operating under the attacker's Reddit account. This can lead to unauthorized posting, messaging, and browsing activity attributed to the attacker-controlled account rather than the victim's own account. The vulnerability does not allow direct account takeover of the victim's Reddit account but enables session confusion and potential misuse of the victim's client environment.
