AI-suggested

A fix is available in parse-server versions 8.6.101 and 9.10.4-alpha.4 and later. Users should upgrade to these or later versions to remediate the vulnerability. No vendor advisory content was provided to indicate alternative mitigations or temporary fixes.

Description

Parse Server versions before 8.6.101 and versions from 9.0.0 up to but excluding 9.10.4-alpha.4 contain a missing authorization vulnerability affecting MongoDB deployments. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to send REST API delete requests to the internal _SCHEMA collection, enabling deletion of stored schema elements such as field definitions, class-level permissions, and protected fields. This unauthorized deletion can expose data to unauthorized reads and modifications.

Impact

The vulnerability enables unauthenticated attackers to delete schema definitions, which compromises the integrity and confidentiality of data by exposing it to unauthorized reads and modifications. This can lead to significant data breaches and unauthorized data manipulation in affected Parse Server deployments using MongoDB.
