No explicit patch or remediation details are provided in the available data. Until a fix is available, avoid exposing the vulnerable versions to untrusted networks or inputs that could trigger oversized top_n values.
Description
vLLM versions from 0.22.0 up to but not including 0.24.0 have an improper input validation vulnerability in the Rust gRPC converter. This flaw allows remote attackers to bypass max_logprobs limits by sending oversized or integer-wrapping top_n values in CandidateTokens.top_n. Exploiting this can cause torch.topk failures that terminate the EngineCore process.
Impact
Successful exploitation results in denial of service by crashing the EngineCore component of vLLM, disrupting normal operation. There is no indication of privilege escalation, data disclosure, or code execution. The vulnerability requires remote network access but has a high attack complexity and requires privileges to trigger.
