Description

CVE-2026-116189 is a vulnerability in rclone versions from 1.55.0 up to but not including 1.75.2. It involves improper verification of cryptographic signatures in the stable selfupdate mechanism. The flaw allows attackers who control the release distribution path to prepend an unsigned checksum line that matches a malicious archive. This causes the selfupdate process to install an attacker-controlled rclone executable, bypassing signature verification.
