Upgrade FreeSWITCH to version 1.11.2 or later where this vulnerability is fixed. Until then, ensure subscription authentication is enabled to reduce risk, and consider disabling presence or shared-appearance management if not required. No other mitigations are specified.
Description
FreeSWITCH versions from 1.10.0 up to 1.11.1 contain a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the mod_sofia module when generating dialog-event notifications. This occurs if a peer establishes a dialog with an excessively long SIP To-header user part and subscribes to that entity’s dialog events. Exploitation requires presence or shared-appearance management enabled and typically valid profile credentials unless subscription authentication is disabled. The overflow can cause the FreeSWITCH process and all active calls to terminate. The issue is fixed in version 1.11.2.
