Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CWE-335) in NETGEAR EX3700 devices arises from improper seeding of the PRNG used to generate session identifiers. An attacker who has network access can exploit this weakness to predict session IDs, enabling them to hijack an authenticated administrator session on the web management interface. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 4.5, reflecting a medium severity with attack vector being adjacent network and requiring low attack complexity and partial privileges.

Potential Impact

An attacker with network access (e.g., WiFi credentials) can predict session identifiers and hijack an authenticated administrator session on the device's web management portal. This compromises administrative control over the device, potentially allowing configuration changes or other administrative actions.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation is currently confirmed. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict network access to trusted users and monitor for unauthorized administrative access.
