AI-suggested
Red Hat has released an official security update fixing this vulnerability in the automation-eda-controller package. Users of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.5 for RHEL 8 should apply the update as described in the Red Hat Advisory RHSA-2026:28376 to remediate the missing authorization issue. No alternative mitigations are indicated; applying the vendor-provided patch is required to resolve the vulnerability.
Description
CVE-2026-11807 is a critical missing authorization vulnerability in the Event-Driven Ansible (EDA) websocket API of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.5 for RHEL 8. The /api/eda/ws/ansible-rulebook endpoint does not verify user permissions when processing Worker messages, allowing any authenticated user to send forged messages with arbitrary activation IDs. This flaw enables attackers to obtain plaintext credentials associated with those activations, including OAuth tokens, vault passwords, and SSH keys. A security update addressing this issue is available from Red Hat.
