Users should restrict contributor-level access to trusted individuals and monitor for updates from the vendor. Since the vulnerability requires authenticated access, limiting permissions can reduce risk. Check the vendor's advisory or plugin updates regularly for an official fix.

Description

The Cool FormKit Lite – Advanced Form Builder for Elementor WordPress plugin is affected by a stored DOM-based cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in versions up to and including 2.7.9. This vulnerability arises from improper sanitization and escaping of the '_elementor_data.form_fields[].custom_id' parameter, allowing authenticated users with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious scripts. The issue bypasses the esc_html() server-side escaping due to the HTML fragment serialization restoring double quotes, enabling script injection in the plugin's frontend context.
