AI-suggested

Upgrade FreeImage (danoli3 fork) to version 3.19.25 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are specified or required once the patch is applied.

Description

FreeImage (danoli3 fork) versions before 3.19.25 contain a heap buffer overflow vulnerability in the GIF plugin. This flaw occurs when processing GIF images with frame rectangles that extend beyond the allocated canvas, leading to out-of-bounds writes in heap memory. The vulnerability is triggered by crafted GIF files where the frame's left position plus its width exceeds the logical screen width. This can cause memory corruption during GIF playback functions.
