CVE-2026-11876: CWE-862 Missing Authorization in zenml-io zenml-io/zenml

VulnerabilityCVE-2026-11876cvecve-2026-11876cwe-862
Published: 07/21/2026 (07/21/2026, 14:11:19 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: zenml-io
Product: zenml-io/zenml

Description

In zenml-io/zenml version 0.94.2, the `GET /api/v1/stack-deployment/stack` endpoint (`get_deployed_stack`) lacks proper RBAC authorization checks, allowing any authenticated user to enumerate all deployed stacks across all users and tenants. This includes stack component details, service connector information, and user IDs of stack owners. The vulnerability arises from two issues: missing endpoint-level RBAC checks and the use of a server-side `Client()` that bypasses the RBAC enforcement layer by directly accessing the database through `SqlZenStore`. This exposes sensitive information such as infrastructure topology, service connector details, stack ownership, and deployment metadata, potentially enabling cross-tenant reconnaissance and further attacks in multi-tenant ZenML Pro/Cloud deployments.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in zenml-io/zenml version 0.94.2 involves the GET /api/v1/stack-deployment/stack endpoint (get_deployed_stack) which does not enforce proper RBAC authorization. Authenticated users can access detailed information about all deployed stacks, including stack components, service connectors, and user IDs of stack owners. This occurs due to two main issues: missing RBAC checks at the endpoint level and the use of a server-side Client() that bypasses RBAC by directly querying the database via SqlZenStore. The exposure of this sensitive information can facilitate cross-tenant reconnaissance and potentially aid further attacks in multi-tenant environments.

Potential Impact

Any authenticated user can enumerate all deployed stacks across all users and tenants, gaining access to sensitive information such as infrastructure topology, service connector details, stack ownership, and deployment metadata. This information disclosure can lead to privacy violations and may assist attackers in planning further attacks within multi-tenant ZenML Pro/Cloud deployments. There is no direct impact on data integrity or availability reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict authenticated user access to the affected endpoint if possible, and monitor for unusual access patterns. Avoid exposing this endpoint to untrusted users. Follow vendor updates for any forthcoming patches or official mitigations.
