The vendor advisory does not currently confirm the availability of a patch or fixed versions. Users should monitor the Red Hat advisory page for updates and apply fixes once available. Until then, review and tighten ACL configurations to minimize risk. No vendor-stated mitigations or workarounds are provided in the advisory at this time.
Description
CVE-2026-118952 is a vulnerability in the Kroxylicious ACL authorizer used in Red Hat streams for Apache Kafka 3. The flaw involves incorrect authorization due to prefix-matching logic errors, which may allow an authenticated Kafka client to access resources that should be denied, such as reading a topic. The issue arises when prefix rules overlap or apply to principals of different types incorrectly.
