Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-11965 is an improper authentication vulnerability (CWE-287) in the User Registration & Membership WordPress plugin prior to version 5.2.0. The flaw permits unauthenticated users who self-register through the open registration flow to obtain active paid subscriptions without payment, bypassing intended access controls for paid content.

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can gain unauthorized access to paid membership subscriptions and the associated gated content without paying. This undermines the revenue model of the affected plugin users and exposes premium content to unauthorized users.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, consider disabling open registration or restricting access to paid plans to trusted users only.
