AI-suggested

Until a fix is available, administrators should avoid running the vulnerable subcommands (cp.sh, rcp.sh, jcp.sh) with elevated privileges or on untrusted jailed users. Monitoring vendor communications for updates is recommended.

Description

BastilleBSD bastille versions up to 1.4.4 have a symlink following vulnerability in certain subcommands that allows jailed users to escape jail isolation. This occurs because jailed users can create symbolic links pointing to host system paths or other jail roots, causing administrator-run copy commands to overwrite or read host files with root privileges.
