AI-suggested
A fix is available. Users should upgrade Babelfish for PostgreSQL to versions 4.10, 5.6, 6.1 or later. Customers using Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL with Babelfish should upgrade their clusters to the specified fixed versions (e.g., 16.14.1 (4.10.0), 17.10.1 (5.6.0), 18.3.4 (6.0.2), 18.4.1 (6.1.0) or later) and apply any pending maintenance updates. As a temporary workaround, restrict network access to the TDS port (default 1433) to prevent exploitation until upgrades can be applied.
Description
CVE-2026-119923 is a critical heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the TDS prelogin parser of the Babelfish for PostgreSQL extension and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL with Babelfish. It affects multiple versions of Babelfish for PostgreSQL and corresponding Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL versions. Exploitation could allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands as the database process user by sending a specially crafted malformed TDS prelogin packet. Fixed versions are available, and users are advised to upgrade to these versions or restrict network access to the TDS port as a workaround.
