AI-suggested

A fix is available in Wing FTP Server version 8.2.6. Users should upgrade to version 8.2.6 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

Wing FTP Server versions prior to 8.2.6 contain a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. Authenticated web-client users can exploit this by sending a crafted 'nowpath' parameter to the webclient/makethumb.html endpoint. This allows attackers to break out of the directory CDATA section in admin_get_lastconn.html XML and forge a connection ID. When the admin_connection_list.html page auto-refreshes, the malicious script executes in administrators' browsers, potentially enabling abuse of the Lua console.
