AI-suggested

Users should monitor vendor advisories for updates. Until a fix is available, restrict roles with create_users capability to trusted users only and consider disabling or limiting the use of the Import and export users and customers plugin. Review cron job configurations and ensure no unauthorized CSV files are processed.

Description

The Import and export users and customers plugin for WordPress contains a privilege escalation vulnerability in all versions up to and including 2.5.11. The flaw arises from a non-atomic multi-option write sequence in the ACUI_Cron::save_settings() function, which allows an authenticated user with a custom delegated role having create_users capability but lacking promote_users or edit_users to escalate privileges to Administrator. This occurs if a prior administrator cron-tab save exists and no successful save happens before the next cron execution processes the attacker's manipulated CSV file.
