AI-suggested

The vulnerability can only be triggered if a privileged monitoring process such as dbus-monitor or busctl monitor is active on the same dbus-daemon instance. Since attaching such a monitoring client requires root or equivalent privileges, limiting or disabling unnecessary monitoring processes reduces exposure. No fixed release is currently available; monitor Red Hat advisories for patch updates. No other mitigations are currently documented.

Description

CVE-2026-120749 is a denial of service vulnerability in D-Bus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. An unprivileged local user can cause the dbus-daemon to abort when a driver-originated broadcast message cannot be delivered to a recipient, triggering an assertion failure. This issue arises when a privileged monitoring client is attached and is a residual problem from an incomplete fix for CVE-2023-34969. No fixed release has been published yet.
