AI-suggested

Upgrade jan to version 0.8.8 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated or required as the fix addresses the root cause of the workspace guard bypass.

Description

Jan versions from 0.8.5 up to but not including 0.8.8 have a vulnerability that allows attackers to bypass workspace protections and write files outside the intended workspace by exploiting dangling symbolic links. This can be triggered by supplying a malicious repository and using prompt injection to cause file write or edit tools to follow symlinks, potentially creating sensitive files such as ~/.ssh/authorized_keys on the host system.
