AI-suggested

Users should avoid opening EPUB or DAISY books from untrusted sources containing suspiciously long name attributes. Monitor vendor advisories for updates and apply patches once available.

Description

eBook-speaker versions 6.1.0 through 6.2.0 have a stack buffer overflow vulnerability in the get_attributes() function due to an unbounded strcpy operation on an element's name attribute. This flaw allows attackers to craft EPUB or DAISY books with excessively long name attributes (511 or more characters) that can corrupt the stack and cause the reader to crash when opening the malicious file.
