AI-suggested

Upgrade EDFbrowser to version 2.16 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated or necessary as the vendor has provided an official fix.

Description

EDFbrowser versions before 2.16 have an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the check_edf_file() function. This flaw allows an attacker to overflow a 256-element array by providing an EDF+ or BDF+ file with more than 256 annotation signals. The overflow can overwrite critical header members, including pointers, leading to application crashes when opening crafted files.
