Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-12512 is a SQL injection vulnerability in the Quotes llama WordPress plugin prior to version 3.1.6. The plugin fails to properly sanitize and escape a user-supplied parameter before incorporating it into a SQL query. This allows unauthenticated attackers to execute UNION-based SQL injection attacks, potentially exposing arbitrary database contents including password hashes.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability without authentication to read arbitrary data from the backend database. This includes sensitive information such as password hashes, which could lead to further compromise if cracked. The vulnerability undermines the confidentiality of the database contents.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no official fix or patch is currently documented, users should monitor vendor communications for updates. Until a fix is available, consider restricting access to the vulnerable plugin functionality or disabling the plugin if feasible.
