Published: 09/14/2026 (09/14/2026, 21:30:58 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: IBM
Product: Langflow OSS

Description

IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.10.0 can allow attackers to execute arbitrary Python code with root privileges (UID=0) on the Langflow server by submitting components containing socket or urllib imports. This enables: (1) AWS credential theft via IMDSv1 SSRF with full IAM role permissions, (2) arbitrary file exfiltration from the container filesystem, and (3) lateral movement to internal services (PostgreSQL, Redis) within the Docker network. The scanner incorrectly returns "validated": true, providing a false security signal.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-12944 is a critical SSRF vulnerability in IBM Langflow OSS versions 1.0.0 through 1.10.0. Attackers can submit components with socket or urllib imports that bypass validation and execute arbitrary Python code with root privileges (UID=0) on the Langflow server. This allows attackers to steal AWS credentials via IMDSv1 SSRF with full IAM role permissions, exfiltrate files from the container filesystem, and move laterally to internal services such as PostgreSQL and Redis within the Docker network. The vulnerability arises from improper validation logic that incorrectly returns "validated": true, misleading users about component safety. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 score of 9.6 (critical). A patch is available, and IBM manages remediation for this cloud-hosted service.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows attackers to execute arbitrary Python code as root on the Langflow server, leading to AWS credential theft with full IAM permissions, unauthorized file exfiltration from the container filesystem, and lateral movement to internal services within the Docker network. This compromises confidentiality and integrity of the affected environment but does not directly impact availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available for IBM Langflow OSS versions 1.0.0 through 1.10.0. Users should apply the official fix promptly. Since this is a cloud-hosted service, IBM manages remediation server-side; users should consult the vendor advisory for confirmation and further guidance. No additional mitigations are specified by the vendor.
