Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-13342 is a protection mechanism failure (CWE-693) in the Security Optimizer WordPress plugin affecting versions 1.5.8 through 1.6.4. The vulnerability arises because the plugin does not properly validate requests to its optional IP-based login restriction feature. As a result, attackers can bypass IP restrictions and reach the login form from unauthorized IP addresses, defeating the intended access control.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized users from non-allowlisted IP addresses to access the login form, potentially increasing the attack surface for brute force or credential stuffing attacks. However, it does not directly disclose credentials or allow privilege escalation. The CVSS score of 5.3 reflects a medium severity with low complexity and no user interaction required.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation is currently confirmed for this vulnerability. Users should monitor the vendor's advisory for updates. Until a fix is available, consider disabling the IP-based login restriction feature or implementing alternative access controls to restrict login access.
