Description

CVE-2026-13622 is a symlink following vulnerability in the virt-handler migration proxy component of Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization 4. During live migration, virt-handler dials Unix sockets inside target virt-launcher pods via /proc/<pid>/root/ paths without symlink protection. An attacker with namespace edit and pods/exec permissions can replace a migration proxy socket with a symlink to the host CRI-O socket, enabling full node compromise due to virt-handler running as root in the host mount namespace. Exploitation requires authenticated user permissions typical for VM operators. The vulnerability allows container-to-host escape and complete node compromise by relaying attacker-controlled data to the container runtime.
