Technical Analysis

The Bit Form WordPress plugin prior to version 3.1.0 fails to properly validate its workflow-trigger token once the associated transient has expired. This missing authorization (CWE-862) vulnerability enables unauthenticated attackers to re-trigger form workflow actions, including notification emails and integrations. There is no CVSS score or vendor advisory indicating a fix or mitigation at this time.

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can exploit this vulnerability to re-trigger configured workflow actions of the Bit Form plugin, potentially causing repeated notification emails or unintended activation of integrations. This may lead to spam, information leakage, or unintended side effects depending on the configured workflows.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider disabling or limiting the use of affected workflow-trigger features if feasible.
