Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-14205 is an improper authentication vulnerability (CWE-287) in the WP Events Manager WordPress plugin prior to version 2.2.5. The vulnerability arises because the plugin fails to validate the requested quantity when registering for a paid event, allowing an attacker with authentication to control the quantity parameter. This leads to the price being calculated based on attacker-controlled input, enabling the creation of completed bookings without actual payment.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user can bypass payment requirements for paid events by manipulating the quantity parameter, resulting in unauthorized free bookings. This can lead to revenue loss for event organizers and potential abuse of event capacity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the plugin's booking functionality to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious booking activity.
