Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-14826 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the Quiz and Survey Master (QSM) WordPress plugin prior to version 11.2.4. The plugin fails to verify ownership on REST API endpoints that return quiz configurations related to email notifications and results pages. As a result, authenticated users with contributor-level permissions or above can read sensitive configuration data, including notification recipient email addresses, for quizzes they do not own. This issue is classified under CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key). No CVSS score or official remediation guidance is currently available.

Potential Impact

Users with contributor-level access or higher can access sensitive quiz configuration data belonging to other users, including email notification recipient addresses. This could lead to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information within the WordPress environment. There is no indication of active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict contributor-level access to trusted users only and monitor for updates from the plugin vendor regarding patches or temporary mitigations.
