Technical Analysis

The WooCommerce Bookings plugin versions prior to 3.11.0 contain an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability (CWE-400). Specifically, an unauthenticated AJAX action accepts a user-supplied value that is not properly limited before being used to allocate memory. This can be exploited by attackers to cause server memory exhaustion, resulting in a Denial of Service condition. The vulnerability is fixed in version 3.11.0.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows unauthenticated attackers to cause a Denial of Service by exhausting server memory with a single crafted request. This disrupts the availability of the affected WooCommerce Bookings plugin and potentially the hosting server.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the WooCommerce Bookings plugin to version 3.11.0 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated. Patch status is confirmed by the version information specifying the fix in 3.11.0.
