Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-14859 is an improper access control vulnerability (CWE-284) in the WP Crowdfunding plugin for WordPress. The plugin fails to verify the 'campaign-submission' capability in one of its AJAX actions, enabling any authenticated user to create crowdfunding campaign posts regardless of their assigned permissions. This issue affects versions prior to 2.2.1. No CVSS score or vendor advisory with patch information is currently available.

Potential Impact

Any authenticated user on a WordPress site using a vulnerable version of WP Crowdfunding can create crowdfunding campaign posts without authorization. This could lead to unauthorized content creation, potential abuse of the crowdfunding platform, and possible reputational or operational impacts for site administrators.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict user roles that can authenticate or disable the vulnerable AJAX action if possible.
