Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-14861 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the User Verification by PickPlugins WordPress plugin through version 2.0.47. The plugin fails to verify that a request to resend a verification email is authorized for the supplied user and does not bind the protecting token to that user. This allows unauthenticated attackers to reset the email verification status of arbitrary users, including administrators, potentially locking them out of their accounts.

Potential Impact

An attacker can reset the email verification status of any user without authentication, including administrators. This can lead to denial of access for legitimate users by locking them out of their accounts through forced email verification resets.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or temporary workaround has been published at this time.
