Technical Analysis

The vulnerability CVE-2026-14886 in HashiCorp Vault Enterprise arises from missing authorization checks in the identity entity batch-delete endpoint. An authenticated caller within one namespace can exploit this flaw to permanently delete storage backing entities belonging to a different namespace, effectively bypassing intended access controls. This is classified under CWE-862 (Missing Authorization). The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 8.2, indicating high severity, with network attack vector, high privileges required, no user interaction, and impacts on integrity and availability. Fixed versions include Vault Enterprise 2.0.4, 1.21.9, 1.20.14, and 1.19.20.

Potential Impact

An attacker with authenticated access in one namespace can delete identity entities in other namespaces, causing permanent loss of entity data and impacting the integrity and availability of Vault Enterprise's identity storage. This could disrupt operations relying on these identity entities and potentially cause denial of service conditions.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available and has been released in Vault Enterprise versions 2.0.4, 1.21.9, 1.20.14, and 1.19.20. Users should upgrade to one of these versions or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation guidance is provided or required beyond applying the official patches.
