CVE-2026-14905: CWE-611 Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference in IBM DataPower Gateway 10.6CD
Description
IBM DataPower Gateway versions 10.5.0.0 through 10.5.0.22, 10.6.0.0 through 10.6.0.10, 10.6.1 through 10.6.6, and 11.0.0.0 through 11.0.0.2 are vulnerable to an XML External Entity (XXE) injection vulnerability. This flaw allows a remote attacker to exploit improper restriction of XML external entity references when processing XML data, potentially exposing sensitive information or causing memory resource consumption.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-14905 is an XML External Entity (XXE) injection vulnerability in IBM DataPower Gateway versions 10.5.0.0 to 10.5.0.22, 10.6.0.0 to 10.6.0.10, 10.6.1 to 10.6.6, and 11.0.0.0 to 11.0.0.2. The vulnerability arises from improper restriction of XML external entity references (CWE-611) during XML data processing. A remote attacker can exploit this to disclose sensitive information or consume memory resources, impacting confidentiality and availability.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation can lead to exposure of sensitive information (confidentiality impact) and partial denial of service through memory resource consumption (availability impact). Integrity is not impacted. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 8.2 (high severity), reflecting network attack vector, low complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and high confidentiality impact with low availability impact.
Mitigation Recommendations
No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the IBM vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider disabling XML external entity processing or applying configuration changes to restrict XML entity resolution if supported by the product.
