Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-15049 is a vulnerability in the Depicter — Popup & Slider Builder WordPress plugin prior to version 4.8.0. The plugin fails to validate the type of files uploaded through its import feature and does not remove malformed uploads. This allows users with editor-level privileges to write arbitrary files, including executable PHP code, into directories accessible via the web server, potentially enabling remote code execution.

Potential Impact

An attacker with editor-level access can upload malicious files, including executable PHP scripts, to the server. This can lead to remote code execution, compromising the affected web server and potentially the entire hosting environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict editor-level user permissions and monitor for suspicious file uploads related to the import feature.
