Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-15238 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the MotoPress Hotel Booking WordPress plugin prior to version 6.2.3. The flaw arises because the plugin fails to verify that the authenticated user owns the customer record before permitting updates. This allows any authenticated user with a low-privileged account, such as Subscriber or higher, to modify or overwrite personal data of any customer by providing an arbitrary identifier, effectively bypassing intended access controls.

Potential Impact

An attacker with any authenticated low-privileged account can alter or overwrite personal data of other customers. This can lead to unauthorized data modification, potential privacy violations, and data integrity issues within the affected WordPress site using the vulnerable plugin.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict user roles that can authenticate or update customer records, and monitor for suspicious activity related to customer data modifications.
