Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-15247 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the Search Atlas SEO WordPress plugin prior to version 2.6.24. The plugin fails to verify user capabilities or nonces before processing settings updates, enabling any authenticated user to modify sensitive Google service-account credentials stored by the site. This vulnerability arises from insufficient access control in an early-priority handler that processes settings updates without proper authorization checks.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user with minimal privileges (e.g., Subscriber) can overwrite or delete the site's Google service-account credentials. This could disrupt integrations relying on these credentials, potentially causing denial of service or loss of functionality related to Google services. The CVSS score of 5.4 (medium severity) reflects the limited scope since only authenticated users can exploit it and there is no direct confidentiality impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation guidance is currently available. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is released, restrict user roles and capabilities to trusted users only to reduce the risk of exploitation.
