Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-15475 describes an improper access control vulnerability in MiniTool Partition Wizard's signed kernel driver (pwdrvio.sys) affecting versions 13.0 to 13.6. The vulnerability can be exploited locally by an attacker with low privileges to manipulate access controls, potentially leading to unauthorized actions. The vendor has addressed this issue in version 13.9, which should be applied to remediate the vulnerability. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 4.8 (medium severity), reflecting local attack vector, low complexity, no user interaction, and limited impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows a local attacker with low privileges to bypass or manipulate access controls within the kernel driver component, potentially enabling unauthorized actions or privilege escalation. However, the impact is limited due to the requirement for local access and the low severity score.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade MiniTool Partition Wizard to version 13.9 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Applying this update addresses the improper access control issue in the pwdrvio.sys driver component.
